카지노사이트Players on the South Korean women’s national soccer team, led by head coach Colleen Bell, have revealed their expectations for a quarterfinal finish or better at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand later this month.
ONSIDE, a monthly technical report published by the Korea Football Association (KFA), surveyed members of the women’s national team and found that the majority of players are expecting their best-ever World Cup performance. Thirty-one members of the national team participated in the survey.
When asked to predict the team’s performance at the World Cup, most respondents chose the quarterfinals. More than half of the 31 players, 16 (51.6%), called for a quarterfinal finish. This was followed by 12 (38.7%) who said quarterfinals or higher, and 3 (9.7%) who said round of 16.
The high expectations are due to the intense training regimen of Women’s National Team Head Coach Colleen Bell. Bell has been preparing the team to play a high-pressure style of soccer, with intense physical training to build up the strength to fight for 90+ minutes, while also making it difficult for opponents. Team captain Kim Hye-ri expressed her confidence, saying, “We have prepared more systematically than ever before in four years.”When asked who they thought would score the first goal for South Korea at the World Cup, players picked Ji So-yeon and Choi Yuri. They tied for first place with nine votes (29%) each. They were followed by Lee Geum-min (7) and Park Eun-sun (2).
Ji So-yeon also topped the list when asked who she was most excited to see play at the World Cup. She was chosen by 13 respondents (43.3%). She was followed by Choi Yuri (6), Park Eun-sun, and Lee Keum-min (3).
When asked if they were conscious of the men’s team’s performance in the round of 16 at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, 23 players (74.2%) chose “not conscious” and expressed confidence in their own performance.
The special Women’s World Cup survey will be available in the July issue of Onside and can be accessed via the KFA website.
