The ‘2023 Doosan Match Play Championship’, the only match play competition on the Korean Women’s Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour, will start a fierce battle for five days on the 17th.
This tournament will be held at Ladena Golf Club (par 72, 6,350 yards) in Chuncheon. This is the first Gangwon-do event on the KLPGA tour this season. The total prize money is 900 million won, an increase of 100 million won from the previous tournament, and the winning prize is 225 million won.
64 top-ranked players in Korea will participate in this event. In particular, thrilling matches are expected with players within the 60th place in last year’s prize money rankings and top-ranking players in this season’s prize money rankings participating.
Park Ji-young (27, Korea Real Estate Trust), who represents Gangwon-do, and Lee Da-yeon (26, from Mediheal and Lee Sang-won), are aiming for their first win this season. ‘Super rookie’ Kim Min-byeol (19, Hite Jinro) from Chuncheon challenges the first championship in his life.
Lim Hee-jeong (23, Doosan E&C) from Taebaek also broke the slump this season and started hunting for her first win of the season. In particular, this competition sponsored by Doosan is expected to be even more special for Lim Hee-jeong, who moved her team to Doosan E&C this season. Han Jin-seon (26, Kakao VX) from Sokcho and Jang Ha-na (31) from Chuncheon will also challenge for the title.
The first three days will be played in the group stage. Only the first place in each group of four will advance to the round of 16 tournament. Starting from the round of 16, the finals will be held over two days in a tournament format.메이저놀이터
On the 16th, the day before the competition, a group draw will be held. The group lottery ceremony is a unique spectator point that can only be seen at the Doosan Match Play Championship, where 16 players who are assigned A seeds (higher seeds) out of 64 players directly select a player to compete with them through a lottery.
There are also unique attractions. Doosan, the organizer, plans to operate ‘Rocky Food Town’ using Doosan Robotics’ collaborative robots at Gallery Plaza during the event. Galleries visiting the contest can taste various foods such as chicken, noodle dishes, coffee, and beer made by cooperative robots.
