With the win, Jeonbuk moved to 40 points and jumped into third place, ahead of FC Seoul (38 points) and Gwangju FC (37 points). Incheon fell short of a four-game winning streak and remained in eighth place with 33 points.
Jeonbuk started with a 4-4-2 formation. Hapa Silva-Park Jae-yong, Moon Sun-min-Boateng-Ryu Jae-moon-Han Kyowon, Jung Woo-jae-Hong Jung-ho-Petrasek-Choi Cheol-soon, and Kim Jung-hoon started.
Incheon countered with a 3-4-3 formation. Kim Min-seok, Mugosa, Mpoku, Min Kyung-hyun, Kim Do-hyuk, Lee Myung-joo, Kim Jun-yup, Delbridge, Kim Dong-min, Obansuk, and Lee Tae-hee were the first to take the field.

Just before kickoff, a sudden downpour made for an underwater battle. Water puddled all over the field, making it impossible to play a proper passing game. Luckily, the rain let up midway through the first half and the puddles mostly disappeared thanks to the excellent drainage at Jeonju World Cup Stadium.
Park Jae-yong scored his debut goal for Jeonbuk. In the 15th minute, Han Gyo-won played a ball into the box that hit a puddle and slowed it down before finding Park Jae-yong. Park didn’t miss it, finishing with his right foot to give Jeonbuk the lead.
Jeonbuk made an unexpected substitution due to injury. In the 31st minute, Ryu Jae-moon sprained his ankle without the ball and was replaced by Park Jin-seop. Incheon threatened Jeonbuk’s goal in the 35th minute with a sharp Caesar kick from Mugosa, but the ball went wide of the goal.

Jeonbuk added one more goal. In the 45th minute, Jeong Woo-jae won the ball on the left side of the field and sent a cross into the box, where Han Gyo-won deftly turned it with his head to split the goal. Jeonbuk fans, who filled the N seats, sang Ourelle to celebrate.
Incheon pulled out their substitutions at the start of the second half. Coach Cho Sung-hwan made changes to his flanking attack, bringing on Jerso and Kim Bo-seob for Mpoku and Kim Min-seok. Jeonbuk responded in the 17th minute of the second half by bringing off Han Gyo-won and Moon Sun-min and introducing Baek Seung-ho and Song Min-gyu.
Needing a goal, Incheon went all out in the 32nd minute, removing Kim Do-hyuk and playing Cheon Sung-hoon. It was Mugosa’s first full-time appearance in the K League after 407 days.
Incheon almost killed itself with a mistake. In the 34th minute, goalkeeper Lee Tae-hee slipped and gave away a kick. Park Jin-seop intercepted it and headed it straight at the goal, but Lee Tae-hee was able to get a hand on it and keep it out.
Incheon continued to try to score through the duo of Mugosa and Cheon Sung-hoon, but they were unable to open the Jeonbuk goal. In fact, if it weren’t for Lee Tae-hee’s brilliant save, they would have conceded goals to Song Min-gyu and Park Jin-seob. In the end, the match ended with Jeonbuk’s ninth consecutive home win and their unbeaten streak against Incheon in 12 home matches (8 wins and 4 draws). Jeonbuk fans celebrated the victory by chanting “Incheon, Incheon”.

With the victory, Jeonbuk overcame the pain of losing Anbang and brought joy to its home fans. Jeonbuk will not be able to play their upcoming FA Cup semifinal first leg against Incheon and two home games against Suwon Samsung in the 26th round of the K League One at Jeonju World Cup Stadium.
“The performance event and closing ceremony of the 2023 Saemangeum World Scouting Jamboree will be held at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on the 11th, so the two home games scheduled for next week will be rescheduled,” Jeonbuk announced ahead of the games.
Jeonbuk was also informed at 2 p.m. on the same day and is taking measures such as postponing the schedule and changing the stadium. For Jeonbuk, it’s a headache in more ways than one, but for now, they’ve managed to put their concerns to rest by sweeping Incheon at home to move into third place.
