In the first half of the season, Hermann topped the list after throwing a nine-strikeout perfect game against the Oakland Athletics on 29 June.
In that game, Hermann threw 99 pitches (72 for strikes) over nine innings, allowing no runs on no hits and striking out nine. It was the 24th perfect game in Major League Baseball history.
Hermann received a 96 on ESPN’s scale. That puts him ahead of Gerrit Cole and Marcus Stroman, who had 92 points.
