Left-handed pitcher Brooks Reilly (34), who was the ace of the Lotte Giants from 2015 to 2019, is having his best performance with his new team, the New York Mets.
In the top of the eighth inning of a 4-2 home win over the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) Baseball World Series at Citi Field in New York City, New York, United States, on July 2, he pitched ⅔ innings of one-hit ball with two strikeouts and no walks.
The team went on to win 4-2, and Reilly picked up his 13th hold of the season, tying him for second in all of MLB in that category.
He is one behind Peter Strzelecki (14), who leads the organization in that category. His ERA dropped to 2.84.
It’s been an up-and-down start to the season for Reilly.
He came to the Mets from the Tampa Bay Rays in a trade last winter, and in March he was named to Team USA’s roster for the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC), only to be sidelined by injury.
The bad news continued. In April, he was placed on the 15-day disabled list (IL) with elbow inflammation.
However, since his return on May 15 against the Washington Nationals, he has been exceptional.
He hasn’t allowed a run in 7⅔ innings in his last nine games.
His ERA, which was as high as 5.23 in April, has dropped into the low 2s.
At this rate, he could surpass his single-season best from last year (1-2, 25 holds, 6 saves, 2.68 ERA).
Reilly is a former KBO pitcher with a record of 48 wins (53 losses) and a 4.13 ERA in five seasons with Lotte.스포츠토토
He signed with the Cincinnati Reds in 2020 and returned to the United States, where he played for the Houston Astros and Tampa Bay before settling in with the Mets this season.
