The Yonex men’s badminton team won four consecutive victories with playing coach Lee Yong-dae and national team member Jin Yong. MG Saemaul Geumgo won a valuable victory after one win and one loss.
Yonex, led by coach Park Yong-je, defeated Icheon City Hall with a match score of 3-0 in the 2023 Passion Korea Badminton League Men’s Group A qualifier held at the Pocheon General Gymnasium in Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 26th. Yonex recorded all 4 wins and secured 1st place in the group regardless of the remaining 1 game.
In the first doubles match for Yonex, Jin Yong-Kim Jae-Hyun defeated Go Seok-Jun and Choi Yong-Beom 2-0 (15-11, 15-5) and went ahead. In the ensuing singles, rookie Kim Tae-rim beat Kang San 2-0 (15-11, 15-8), and in doubles, playing coach Lee Yong-dae-Lee Sang-min beat Choi Woo-seok-Kang Yong-bin 2-1 (11-15, 15-11, 11-7). In the women’s group A, MG Saemaul Geumgo, coached by Kim Seong-soo, won a thrilling match score of 3-2 after a bloody battle with Siheung City Hall. Saemaul Geumgo recorded 2 wins and 1 loss, securing an advantage in the fight for second place in the group.
MG Saemaul Geumgo got off to a fresh start with Baek Ha-na, the national women’s doubles team, teaming up with Kim Bo-min and defeating Park Sang-eun and Kim So-jeong 2-1 (15-9, 11-15, 11-3) in the first doubles match. In Siheung City Hall, singles ace Park Min-jung caught Son Min-hee 2-0 (15-10, 15-9) to balance the game.
In the doubles that followed, Siheung City Hall Park Ji-yoon and Kim A-young boosted their momentum by beating Variable-Sung Ah-young 2-0 (18-16, 15-10). However, MG Saemaul Geumgo had singles ace Lee Se-yeon defeating Park Seon-yeong 2-0 (15-11, 15-7), followed by Seong Ah-young defeating Kim Hye-bin 2-0 (15-10, 15-9) in the final singles match. In the men’s Group B, the Armed Forces Athletic Corps defeated Chungju City Hall 3-0, recording 4 wins and passing through the group stage smoothly.
