Heung-Min Son, ranked ’26th’ in the world… Guardian’s 2022 Player of the Year

Son Heung-min (31, Tottenham) ranked 26th in the 2022 men’s soccer player of the year rankings selected by the British daily Guardian. It is a ranking that has risen 13 places from the previous year (2021).

Son Heung-min was named 26th in the Top 100 World’s Best Men’s Soccer Players in 2022 announced by The Guardian on the 26th (Korean time). The media evaluated the performance of the players in 2022 and ranked them by organizing coaches, broadcasters, and reporters, including former players, as judges.

Son Heung-min, who was ranked 39th in 2021, climbed 13 steps in a year and entered the top 20 again. Son Heung-min first made it to the Guardian Top 100 at 78th in 2018, then rose to 19th the following year, but in 2020 and 2021, he drew a downward curve to 22nd and 39th, respectively.

Son Heung-min became the top scorer in the English Premier League (EPL) in the 2021-2022 season, but the ranking did not rise as much as expected because it was based on his performance for one year in 2022, not one season. This is because some of the relatively sluggish records this season are included.

The Guardian said, “Son Heung-min’s performance in the first half of last year was a big factor in his ranking rising 13 places. From January of last year to the end of the season, he recorded 15 goals and 6 assists, leading Tottenham to advance to the UEFA Champions League, He was tied for the top scorer with Mohamed Salah (Liverpool),” but “after suffering an injury that fractured the bone around his eye in November, he has not been able to show his former self, such as playing while wearing a face mask.” added. 먹튀검증

While the rankings from 1st to 10th were not disclosed, Son Heung-min’s partner Harry Kane (30) rose slightly from 15th to 13th last year. Following Kane and Son Heung-min, Richarlison (61st), Christian Romero (72nd) and Hugo Lloris (76th) made the top 100. Jamal Musiala (20, Bayern Munich), who ranked 25th, Rafael Reang (24, AC Milan), 23rd, and Enso Fernandez (23, Benfica) were selected for the first time and ranked ahead of Son Heung-min. Ranks 1-10 have not yet been revealed.
