Chicken instead of pheasant? Mets Missing Correa, 2013 NL MVP Interested

The New York Mets, who failed to recruit infielder Carlos Correa (29, Minnesota Twins), are aiming for outfielder Andrew McCutchen (36, former Milwaukee Brewers).

The New York Post reported on the 12th (Korean time) that the Mets are interested in McCutchen in the outfield market. The Mets already have Starling Marte and Marc Kanha in the outfield. In the offseason, three outfield positions were filled, even leaving Brand Nemo, who was released as a free agent (FA). Marte, Kanha, and Nemo combined for 45 homers and 188 RBIs last season. The New York Post mentioned the possibility of using the designated hitter, saying, ‘It is unclear whether McCutchen is interested in a spare outfield role.’ The Mets played a large part in the designated hitter of Darin Ruff, which they acquired in a trade last year, but the results were not satisfactory. Ruff’s batting average in 28 games after the transfer was only 0.152 (10 hits in 66 at-bats).   바카라

McCutchen hit 0.317 with 21 homers and 84 RBIs in 2013 when he was a member of the Pittsburgh Pirates, and was selected as the National League (NL) Most Valuable Player (MVP). He boasted his popularity by being selected as an All-Star for 5 consecutive years from 2011, and also received the NL Silver Slugger Award for 4 consecutive years from 2012. However, his performance declined from January 2018, when he transferred to the San Francisco Giants. In his last season with Milwaukee, he batted .237 with 17 homers and 69 RBIs. His combined OPS of on-base percentage (0.316) and slugging percentage (0.384) was 0.700, the lowest since his 2009 big league debut.

The Mets’ interest in McCutchen is eye-catching because of Correa’s course. The Mets initially agreed to a 12-year, 315 million dollar (392.4 billion won) contract with Correa, but went through labor after failing to pass the medical test. In the meantime, Corea signed a contract with Minnesota for 6 years, a total of 200 million dollars (249.1 billion won, up to 10 years, a total of 270 million dollars), and the power reinforcement plan has been disrupted.

The New York Post said, ‘Among the remaining outfielders in the FA market, there are Adam Duvall, David Peralta, and Jurickson Profar.’
